Partnership for Public Service’s Center for Presidential Transition Unveils Position Descriptions for Top Political Jobs
WASHINGTON – The nonprofit, nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service today released the most comprehensive position descriptions for more than 150 of the top Senate-confirmed political appointments. The descriptions are available at presidentialtransition.org/position-descriptions.
The position descriptions cover presidentially appointed, Senate-confirmed jobs across the government’s major departments and agencies. Each one provides important information such as the primary responsibilities of the job and the experience and competencies required.
This information will serve as a valuable resource for President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, Congress and the public as candidates are evaluated for top leadership positions. These jobs include deputy secretaries, undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, general counsels, chief financial officers, agency administrators and directors.
“The president-elect should aim to have his top 100 Senate-confirmed appointees confirmed near Inauguration Day, a goal that has yet to be accomplished in our nation’s history,” said Stier. “The position descriptions fill a major void by informing the president-elect’s transition team, Congress, the public and the nominees themselves about the skills and qualifications required to succeed in critical leadership jobs in the federal government.”
The Partnership’s Center for Presidential Transition created these detailed position fact sheets after consulting with executive search firms, prior and current officeholders and by examining public sources. The Partnership will continue to create position descriptions for additional positions.
The Partnership for Public Service and The Washington Post have also partnered to track the progress of more than 660 of President-elect Donald Trump’s Senate-confirmed political appointments at wapo.st/appointee-tracker.
