Partnership for Public Service statement on nomination of leadership positions at the Office of Management and Budget

WASHINGTON – The nonpartisan, nonprofit Partnership for Public Service today released the following statement from President and CEO Max Stier after President Joe Biden announced that he will nominate Shalanda Young to be the Office of Management and Budget director and Nani Coloretti to be the agency’s deputy director.

“A well-functioning Office of Management and Budget with effective, Senate-confirmed leadership is crucial to the success of any presidential administration,” said Stier. “The Partnership for Public Service applauds President Biden for nominating two highly-qualified federal leaders to head the government’s budget office, and for making history by selecting two women of color for the agency’s top positions.

“Shalanda Young’s success serving as OMB’s acting director, plus her long tenure in leadership positions on Capitol Hill, make her an excellent choice for the director position. Nani Coloretti’s record leading public, private and nonprofit institutions and her extensive experience in management roles at federal agencies will help her excel as OMB’s deputy director. Together, these two leaders will help drive constructive communication between the Biden administration and Congress, ensure the effective and equitable distribution of government funds and help to implement the President’s Management Agenda. Congratulations to Shalanda and Nani, whose nominations are well-deserved.”

The Office of Management and Budget was ranked 29th out of 29 small agencies in the 2020 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government® rankings, produced by the Partnership for Public Service and Boston Consulting Group. The Partnership and The Washington Post track seven positions requiring Senate confirmation at OMB, of which only two have been confirmed.
