Partnership for Public Service Statement on Confirmation of Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.) for Office of Management and Budget Director

WASHINGTON – Partnership for Public Service President and CEO Max Stier issued the following statement on the Senate confirmation of Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.) as the director of the Office of Management and Budget.

“Effective government requires coordination from the center, and OMB is best positioned to provide that leadership. By focusing on innovation and collaboration, OMB has the opportunity to lead more effectively while fulfilling important government-wide policy, regulatory and management obligations.

I am hopeful that Director Mulvaney will embrace the critical role played by OMB to improve the operations and management of our government. We congratulate Mr. Mulvaney on his confirmation and look forward to working with him to boost government performance and better serve the American public.”

In 2016, the Partnership for Public Service released “From Decisions to Results: Building a More Effective Government through a Transformed Office of Management and Budget.” This report contains recommendations on how the current administration can strengthen and reshape the agency to allow our complicated, fragmented government to operate more cohesively.
