Responsibility
Management Scope

In fiscal 2015, the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) had a budget of $112.237 billion.5 The undersecretary for food, nutrition and consumer services delivers billions of dollars in food stamps.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Supervises the department’s 15 federal nutrition assistance programs, including the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and school meals6
  • Works with public, private and nonprofit partners to increase food security and reduce hunger by providing children and low-income people access to food, a healthful diet and nutrition education7
  • Manages efforts to reduce and prevent fraud, and spend taxpayer dollars on FNS programs more efficiently7

Requirements

• Extensive management and leadership experience with government service programs in the food/nutrition and/or anti-poverty space
• Graduate degree (preferred)
