Prepare materials to give to the incoming transition team and new administration (January–November 1)

Create and maintain accurate records of the agency’s functions and activities and dispose of documentary materials that are no longer needed to conduct business (May–election)

Participate in monthly meeting of the Agency Transition Directors Council (May–Inauguration)

Send OPM an inventory of all agency positions that may be filled by noncompetitive appointment for compilation in the Plum Book (May–July)
Identify and train senior career officials responsible for temporarily assuming the positions of departing political appointees in the event of vacancies during the transition (June–August)
