Position Overview

The assistant administrator for economic growth, education and environment is the principal advisor to the agency, the administrator and other U.S. government agencies on technical and operational matters relating to the bureau’s mandate.

Compensation

Level IV $161,900155,500 (5 U.S.C. § 5315)1 The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017 (Public Law 115-31, May 5, 2017), contains a provision that continues the freeze on the payable pay rates for certain senior political officials at 2013 levels during calendar year 2017.

Responsibilities

Management Scope

The assistant administrator oversees the following offices: Development Credit; Economic Policy; Education; Forestry and Biodiversity; Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment; Global Climate Change; Energy and Infrastructure; Land Tenure and Resources Management; Private Capital and Microenterprise; Professional Development and Management Services; Planning, Learning and Coordination; Trade and Regulatory Reform; and Water and Development.3 https://lo.bvdep.com/OrgChart.asp?curp=1&LDIBookId=19&LDISectio

Primary Responsibilities

® Directs and supervises the bureau; sets bureau strategic direction based on agency policies and priorities; approves projects and programs; and allocates resources among offices
® Provides information, advice and/or services to members of Congress and senior appointees at the White House, State Department, and other executive branch agencies, as well as to senior officials from other donor and international development organizations
® Submits an annual budget and assists with presenting the bureau’s program and budget to Congress

® Prior government experience (preferred); knowledge of the legislative and federal budgeting process
® Experience in foreign affairs
