Staff

Our dedicated staff works extensively on the issue of presidential transition with the support of many other teams from across the Partnership. This team of Partnership employees works each day to achieve the strategic and programmatic goals of the center.


Shannon Carroll 
Manager, Stakeholder Engagement

Shannon Carroll manages several corporate- and foundation-funded projects at the Partnership. She also oversees operational activities on the Partnership’s Center for Presidential Transition. She previously served as a congressional assistant in the Bay Area, where she worked with federal agencies to help solve constituents’ challenges and planned community outreach events. Shannon has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Jennifer Close 
Senior Manager

Jennifer Close leads the Partnership’s efforts to prepare political and career executives to succeed through our Ready to Govern initiative. She collaborates with public and private sector leaders to design and deliver onboarding and professional development seminars and convene and build community among federal executives. Jennifer comes from a long line of mission-driven professionals. She knows how dedicated public servants are and is passionate about helping them achieve extraordinary results. Her favorite government employee is Leslie Knope, an enthusiastic champion of public service.

Dan Hyman 
Manager

Dan Hyman leads the Center for Presidential Transition’s agency engagements, manages the Partnership’s relationship with the intelligence community and supports Partnership leadership networks. Dan’s first foray into federal management issues came as a college student, when he started an organization that brought members of Congress into high schools to encourage students to choose careers in public service. He developed an appreciation for the indispensable role of the federal government while working on public policy issues at the state and local level in New York City. Dan’s favorite public servant is William J. Donovan, the famed New York attorney and the “Father of American Intelligence” who put loyalty to country and the public good above all else.  


Chantelle Renn 
Special Advisor, Transition and Management

Chantelle leads the development of transition-related policy and strategy for the Center for Presidential Transition, focusing on the development, implementation and impact of a presidential management agenda pre-election and continuing through a president’s term. Chantelle has always been fascinated by how people, ideas, systems and processes interact to effect change and impact peoples’ everyday lives. Having studied political science, Chantelle’s fascination grew from serving in senior leadership and executive roles in Australia’s Public Service (in the state of Victoria), where she lead teams to develop public policy and strategic advice to government across a broad range of portfolios including education, human services, intergovernmental relations, governance, industrial relations, and government transitions and election support.


Kristine Simmons 
Vice President, Government Affairs

As the head of the Government Affairs team, Kristine leads the Partnership’s education and advocacy work on Capitol Hill, oversees the Center for Presidential Transition and serves as a member of the Partnership’s senior leadership team. Her responsibilities include developing and executing strategies to improve presidential transitions, informing congressional oversight, and reforming government management and the civil service system. Prior to joining the Partnership, Kristine served as a special assistant to President George W. Bush on the White House Domestic Policy Council. She also spent 11 years on Capitol Hill working in a senior capacity for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs. Kristine has worked with fantastic leaders in both the executive branch and Congress, and believes that people of integrity working across the aisle and across the branches can do great things for the American people.

Tina Sung 
Vice President

Tina Sung convenes and champions government leaders at the highest levels of the executive branch to maximize their impact and success in government. A multi-sector executive leader with a track record of innovation and accomplishment in every phase of her professional career, Tina founded and served as president of Synergy Works LLC, which provides strategy and performance improvement consulting services to the federal government, state and local governments, NGOs, and Fortune 500 companies. She also founded a second company, Experience Matters: the Executive Transition Experts, helping senior executives facing reorganization, a new job, or retirement transition smoothly to the next stage of their lives.

Tina graduated cum laude from Princeton University. She later completed Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government Program for Senior Managers and the Federal Executive Institute’s Leadership and Management Program. She was also a participant in the President’s Executive Exchange Program sponsored by the White House.
